Off-Road Vehicle & ATV Impact

ATV, quad, dirt-bike, and side-by-side use is a documented concern at Turtle Lake — mentioned in approximately 40% of What We Learned overcrowding comments and identified as a habitat and safety concern in 29% of participatory-map entries (2025 Community Engagement Report). The 2025 studies did not quantify off-road vehicles per lot.

For planning purposes, new lots in established recreational subdivisions may add 13–25 off-road vehicles based on a conservative planning range of 0.25–0.50 per lot. This estimate should be confirmed through a dedicated count if ATV management is to be addressed in OCP/Zoning Bylaw amendments.
